New Distance Measuring Tool

Some of you may have noticed that we have added a new tool to the Seasurface web site to measure distances. This has been in response to user feedback.

The new tool allows you to measure distances between any two points by simply clicking on one spot and moving the mouse to another. The distance between them is then shown in kilometres and nautical miles along the bottom of the image window. The tool is ideal for those wishing to measure the distance from their launching spot to that temperature gradient. By clicking the Show Temperature button first you can also see the temperature as you move the mouse.

Strikezone Tuna Time - DVD Now Available!

After the huge success of Strikezone Live Baiting Alistair McGlashan and Ron Croft have wasted little time in releasing the second in the series - Strikezone Tuna Time. Filmed entirely off Sydney, the boys capture some spectacular footage of double, and even triple, hook ups on jumbo sized tuna - all from a trailerboat.

Holding nothing back, in his typical laid back fashion, Alistair goes right into detail revealing many secrets on how to find tuna. Using the latest technology, including using our sea surface temperature charts, he goes into detail on using your electronics and how to read the water. Trolling, live baiting and cubing are all covered in this highly informative DVD, as are techniques on fighting and landing the tuna. With over an hour of non stop, adrenalin pumping action Tuna Time is guaranteed to entertain, with the added bonus of improving your tuna fishing!

At just $24.95 (plus $7.95 Express Postage) Tuna Time is certainly a must have for all saltwater anglers and makes the ideal Christmas gift. Click here to download an order form for your copy now.

User Tips

Tip 1 - Optimise Colours
Once you draw your box and zoom-in the image that you see is a subset of the larger image and the colours may not display the full range of temperatures even though all the data is all there. If you click on the Optimise Colours button then the image is resampled and the coldest temperature is shown in dark blue and the warmest in bright red. You are then able to see the temperature differentiation more clearly.

Tip 2 - Enhance Image
If you want to turn your image into a psuedo 3-dimensional view then once you have optimised the colours then click on the Enhance Image button. This will display an image with the warm waters appearing red and higher and the cooler waters blue and lower. It will also excentuate those temperature gradients
